Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) System
Sulfur Oxides (SOx), generally in the form of SO2, are emitted mainly from the combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal. When gaseous SO2 combines with liquid water, sulfuric acid is produced, which is a major constituent of acid rain and can damage ecosystems and impact human health.
FGD process is the dominant worldwide method for the control of SO2 emissions. It is a technology that reduces the concentration of Sulfur Oxides in the flue gas system through a chemical reaction process with a reagent, such as lime.
